Just about 70 meters from the hotel begins the Philosophenweg – a popular hillside trail with views of Heidelberg Castle, the Old Town, and the Neckar. The entrance is located directly in the Neuenheim district and can be reached from the BS Boutique Hotel in no time.
Its unique location on the southern slope of the Heiligenberg makes it one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city.
Ideal for a walk starting right from the hotel, the Philosophenweg offers a combination of nature, panoramic views, and historical significance.

The Philosophenweg is one of the most well-known walking paths in Heidelberg and is directly accessible from the BS Boutique Hotel in the Neuenheim district. The path runs along the southern slope of the Heiligenberg on the opposite side of the Neckar from the Old Town and offers impressive views of Heidelberg Castle, the Old Bridge, and the course of the Neckar. For many of our hotel guests, a walk along the Philosophenweg is one of the highlights of the immediate surroundings.

The entrance is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, either via the Schlangenweg at the bridgehead of the Old Bridge or via direct access points in the residential area above Neuenheim. The path leads through a green hillside landscape with dry stone walls, gardens, and Mediterranean vegetation - including figs, almonds, and cypresses, which are rarely found in this region.

The Philosophenweg owes its name to Heidelberg's long academic tradition: as early as the 19th century, professors, writers, and students used the path as a retreat for conversations, ideas, and views. Today, it uniquely connects the city, nature, and history.

Thanks to its immediate proximity to the BS Boutique Hotel, the Philosophenweg can be easily integrated into the daily routine - whether in the early morning with clear views over the Neckar Valley or as an evening stroll with views of the illuminated Old Town.
